Keikogi Iwata Aikido #500-unbleached, Double layer
1 jacket + 1 pants.
Dogi 100% Cotton
All our Aikido uniforms - dogi and hakama - are especially designed for the practice of Aikido and 100% made in Japan.
This Aikido gi set is suitable for SHIHAN (Instructor) and for high graded people.
Two sheets of cloth are sewn for a more relaxed fit.
As it is unbleached, this uniform's size is larger than a white one such as Keikogi 600.
But after washing this unbleached jacket, the size will be almost the same as a white one
(unbleached uniforms shrink more than white uniforms the first several washes).
About Keikogi unbleached cotton cloth
Unbleached (kinari/off-white) is the original color of cotton.
Unbleached cotton cloth gets white (shiro) after it has been dyed.
Keikogi unbleached cotton cloth is originally made rather big and needs to be washed
at first to have it in the actual size after shrinking by 10cm.
The color will gradually get whiter with a unique touch as you wash.
About Iwata keikogi 500
The trousers of Keikogi 500 are originally made rather thick and big so it is recommend to take one size smaller than one's ordinary size.
How to wash a Keikogi
Make sure to wash by washing machine with detergent and cold water or cool water under 30 degrees to a maximum so that it doesn't shrink or gets damaged due to hot water.
Put it wide open for quick drying.
You could also use bleach for better cleaning but it should be up to twice a year at maximum for keeping the cloth in good condition.
About shrinkage of Keikogi
It shrinks about 10cm per year but it also depends on the frequency of washing and
the water temperature.
